Writing is my passion. Having the privilege of being both an author and a clinical psychologist affords me with a unique perspective and voice. All of my writing encompasses what I consider to be the larger questions -— morality, faith, courage, and integrity. My works include suspense novels, literary fiction, poetry, and a memoir that follows my journey in coping with the death of the twenty-two year old daughter. When I'm not writing or working in my private practice, I can be found painting or enjoying time with my husband, twenty-nine year old son, and two Australian shepherds.

Why do I write? Not such a simple question and certainly not a simple answer...I'd love for you to take a look at my poem below.
Reflections on Words
Why do you write?
they asked
hah! such a simple question--
but complicated enough
that I've left it sitting
simmering
for well over a week now
Take your time,
they told me
three weeks, maybe a month if you need
no problem,
I thought
it's right here
at the core of me
so close
I can almost taste it
I reach for the words--
long abandoned memories
lingering
like childhood tunes
the music lodged
in the crooks and crannies
of my mind
Stretch a bit further
there it is,
I tell myself
passion
like a lover's pull
I'm drawn to the words
they hold me close
keep me steady
The words, the story
basic yearning
like craving food
that's what drives me to write
as though I have no choice
I write...
it gives me purpose
I write...
it's a part of me
like bones and blood
breath taken in
then pushed out again
I write...
it allows me to survive
the craziness
the sadness
I write...I write...
and when it seems
there are no choices left me
I choose to write
and write
and write...
